A staple of the expanded universe's depiction of Tatooine, both before and after the Disney buyout, is the Krayt Dragon.

Krayt Dragons, in most EU interpretations, are - well - proper freaking DRAGONS. With like, wings and everything. Up until Mandalorian season 2, the most famous appearance of this beast was when you had to get past one in the original KOTOR.

However, when one showed up in Mandalorian, they changed its design a bit to make it more unique. Now, Krayt Dragons are more similar to sand worms from Frank Herbert's Dune series, these long worm-like monsters that spit acid and eat up entire towns of people like so many tic-tacs.

While not drawing attention to it verbally, they still visually referenced the sought after jewel of every Krayt Dragon - the Krayt Dragon pearl. A priceless rock that grows inside a Krayt Dragon and is worth its weight in gold in the Star Wars universe.
