The Office: 10 Most Hated Characters
8. Brian
While most believe the quality of the show dropped with 'Goodbye Michael', there can be no doubt that one of the biggest signals of the writers struggling for ideas was to bring in the documentary camera crew. This was something that they had managed to avoid for nine years, and in truth it should have stayed that way.
The face of this decision was Brian, the boom mic operator who hadn't once been seen previously. Not when Dwight panicked the entire office with his fake fire, or when Andy became stranded at sea, both potentially dangerous things that he could have stopped. Instead, he stepped in to try and take advantage of Pam and Jim's marriage troubles.
Out of nowhere came the storyline that he was in love with Pam, and while it was commendable that he stepped in to save her from Frank, the whole thing just seemed like it didn't fit. Jim and Pam's storyline was fine with their relationship being stretched by Jim's commitments in Philadelphia, Brian didn't actually add anything substantial.
In a way he was like Jim in that he was admiring Pam from afar, but he was married, and tried to exploit the fact that her husband was out of town. He was simply unlikeable and altogether a rare miss for The Office.
