The Office: 12 Most Cringeworthy Scenes
1. Scott's Tots
There are times that Michael Scott's blind optimism and unearned confidence in his own abilities as a salesman and as a manager have gotten him into trouble. However, there is one scenario above any other that could have potentially ruined the lives of an entire class of young students.
Michael, while suffering with delusions of grandeur when it came to his financial future, simply assumed that he would be a millionaire by the time he was 40. With this imaginary money, he pledged to pay for a young class to go to college if they all graduated high school. This ill-advised promise gave birth to the single cringiest, and most awkward moment in the show's history.
Instead of Michael giving the school or the students he promised to put through college any notice that he couldn’t fulfil his side of the bargain, he waited until the very day they were celebrating graduation to tell them that he wouldn't be funding their education.
As if this wasn't already tough to watch, he sat through the song and speeches they wrote to thank him, and as recompense for killing their dreams, offered them batteries for their laptops! This was Michael Scott at his very worst.
