The Office: 12 Most Cringeworthy Scenes
8. Michael's Blind Date
Before Holly came along, Michael had been painfully out of luck in the love department. He had had his heart broken by Jan, Carol, Donna, and even Holly before finally settling down. However, it is sometimes hard to feel sorry for him when he treats people the way he treated Pam's landlady.
Throughout The Office, Michael has a history of judging women only by their looks, body shaming them, and thinking he was better than them. There is no greater example of this than when he met with Margaret for a blind date.
Since he had recently become enamoured with a catalogue model, Michael was expecting a super model, yet when he saw Margaret he didn't think that she was attractive enough for him. He felt that he deserved better than her based only on her appearance, something that he made clear in the rudest fashion possible, describing her as like talking to the old lady on the bus, and even showing her pictures of Jan to prove he thought he could do better.
Michael's childishness, his wild, undeserved ego, and his true thoughts about women were on show more than ever before in this coffee shop, and it is genuinely hard to like him after seeing it. It's tough to watch for Margaret's sake, but also for a character that is supposed to be the good guy yet shows his true colours.
