Michael Scott loves his employees and his job more than almost anything, with the exception of his own self interests. He claims to love the people of Dunder Mifflin like a family, but if he had to hurt any of them, or if their feelings got in the way of something he wanted, he wouldn't really care.

Kelly Kapoor isn't the only one of Michael's employees to have slapped him in the face. It wasn't the constant body shaming or lack of respect as a receptionist that caused Pam to snap, it was her boss' romantic relationship with her mother.

After meeting Helene at Jim and Pam's wedding, Michael began to date her, a scenario that would be every daughter's worst nightmare. It was bad enough when Jim heard the news to a graphic story about the seats in her car going all the way back, but even worse was Pam's reaction.

She was so excited that Michael was seeing someone, and that it was the mother of someone in the office. But the audience knew, Michael and Jim knew, and it was utterly horrifying watching Pam so excited and even talk him out of breaking up with her before he eventually revealed the truth.
