The Simpsons: 10 Best Treehouse Of Horror Episodes

5. Treehouse X

Treehouse Of Horror Viii Simpsons The Homega Man
20th Television

Released in 1999, Treehouse of Horror X has all the hallmarks of that year.

We get a parody of a teen slasher movie, a Millennium bug catastrophe, and a skit about comic book superheroes that, due to it being written in the 20th century, isn’t full of Marvel references. Instead, we get Lucy Lawless cameoing as Xena. Ah, the '90s…

Anyway, I Know What You Diddily-Iddiliy-Did is one of the surprisingly many Treehouse tales that sees Ned as the antagonist, in this one getting to be both hook-wielding killer and werewolf.

Desperately Xeeking Xena is a rollocking delight of a segment (even if it isn’t very Halloween-y). Comic Book Guy gets his breakout starring role as evil mega-dork The Collector, and Bart and Lisa are dynamic super-duo Stretch Dude and Clobber Girl - a theme tune that gets stuck in your head forever after having heard it. And full credit to Lucy Lawless for saying the line “Xena.. needs.. xex”.

The final tale, Life’s a Glitch, and then You Die, sees the Y2K bug cause all of Springfield’s electronic equipment to go beserk and, as you’d imagine, kill a bunch of people. A lovely touch is the really creepy version of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ which underscores the montage of the machines wreaking havoc.
