The Simpsons: 10 Episodes That Would Have Made Perfect Endings
10. Bart To The Future
The second of what turned out to be several one-off episodes that gazed into what lies within the future of The Simpsons family, Bart To The Future is the one where Lisa is President Of The United States and her brother a washed-up cover-band frontman who lives in squalor with Ralph Wiggum. It is a little bleak at times. It's framed by the family dropping my a casino and Bart being pulled up by security for being under-age, dragged to the Native American owner who then gives him vision of the future if he doesn't change his ways. It's a bit A Christmas Carol, really, and it would've worked perfectly as a series finale in three ways. One: critics hated it, some even deeming it the Worst. Episode. Ever. So, no love lost in cancelling it there and then. Second, it did the fan service thing of showing you the future, but in typical Simpsons fashion it sucked for everyone. Three: it ends with Bart deciding to change his ways, suggesting character development and a nice future. Woo-hoo!
