The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Recurring Characters Introduced After Season One

1. Fat Tony

Most fans of The Simpsons would like to forget that the last few years happened, as with every new season, the show dampens it legacy a little bit more. There is a similar story with Fat Tony, who actually died in season 22's 'Donnie Fatso', and was replaced by Fit Tony, who eventually tubbed out and became Fat Tony. Even in spite of this ridiculous narrative, Tony deserves his space at the top of this list.

First appearing in 'Bart the Murderer' in season three, Fat Tony was introduced as he would mean to go on, as a cut throat mafia boss. However, as his life in Springfield went on, he wasn’t always quite so serious as threatening Skinner’s life and framing Bart.

His exploits of bribery, racketeering, and organized crime should, in theory, make it difficult to like him as a character, except that he is so damn charming and funny, he boosts most any episode that he and his associates are a part of.

Much of this comes down to Joe Mantegna, who portrays the mobster with the kind of presence and gravitas that most Simpsons characters would beg for.
