There are some questionable parenting styles evident throughout Springfield to say the least. Homer and Nelson were abandoned by their mother and father respectively, Krusty was perfectly happy pretending Sophie didn't exist, and Homer himself routinely strangled his own son. Agnes Skinner however, was on a completely different level.

For starters, she was always dealing out some form of verbal or emotional abuse towards her son, whether it was belittling his job or calling him a sissy for not looking at pornography. Even worse than that was how she treated her ACTUAL son.

More on Armin Tamzarian later, but when the real Seymour Skinner returned to Springfield Agnes hated him. It’s one thing to struggle with such a weird situation, but she completely abandoned her own son.

There was an imposter who better fitted her lifestyle, and who was in her eyes a more ideal son than Seymour, simply because Seymour wanted to have his own life. She signed off on tying him to a train and having him shipped out of town. He was a war hero, and though he may have been a dick, he certainly didn’t deserve that treatment from his own mother.
