The Simpsons: 10 Springfield Characters You Totally Forgot Existed
2. Herb Powell
Though they are the main characters, the Simpson family stretches far beyond the five occupants of 742 Evergreen Terrace. There is Grandpa, Patty and Selma, and almost countless relatives that Homer contacted in 'Lisa the Simpson', from doctors and lawyers to someone who begs celebrities for money.
The all too often forgotten member of the Simpson family however, is Homer's half brother, Herb. Fathered by Abe and a carnival ride operator, Herb was adopted and taken to Detroit, where he carved out a nice life and vast fortune for himself. This was until Homer got involved, however.
Herb's younger brother was a key contributor in both the loss of his wealth in the car business, and the growth of it in the baby monitor business. They had their ups and downs, and Herb punched Homer in the face more than once, but when he finally left Evergreen Terrace after making his money back, they rarely ever reached out to each other again.
Homer did try to make contact when he and Marge were looking for guardians for the kids should anything happen to them, but since his brother had once again lost all his money, Homer hung up the phone.
