The Simpsons is famous for a great many things and one of them is really hating the network that they're on.

The show has gone out of its way to make fun of Fox over the years and every time the network tells them to stop, they just make fun of them even more.

You might think that The Simpsons not giving a damn what Fox thinks is a relatively new phenomenon; born from the immense popularity of the show.

However, it turns out that they didn't care from day one.

According to a 2004 interview with actor, Harry Shearer, "because the network was such a fledgling joke network back then, they gave Jim Brooks a contractual provision that there would be no network interference in the broadcast of The Simpsons.

"They could do censor notes, but there’d be no show notes."

Fox were clearly so keen to get this show on their books that they were willing to make some serious concessions in the early days.

This has definitely come back to haunt them though, as they now have to deal with one of their biggest critics from within their own ranks.
