The Simpsons: 14 Most Controversial Episodes Of All Time

7. Two Bad Neighbours

It€™s common knowledge that there€™s no love lost between The Simpsons and former president George Bush Sr. In 1990, the year after the show made its debut, his wife Barbara lambasted it as the dumbest thing she€™d ever seen and two years later, Bush Sr. referenced the show in his re-election campaign stating his aim was to "make American families a lot more like the Waltons and a lot less like the Simpsons." In typical fashion, The Simpsons quickly retorted in a short vignette featuring our favourite yellow fivesome watching Bush€™s speech and Bart declaring, €˜Hey! We're just like the Waltons. We're praying for an end to the Depression, too.€™ While Two Bad Neighbours is considered one of the best episodes the series has produced, it€™s nevertheless the culmination of the then ongoing Simpsons vs. Bushes feud and hilarious for its lampooning of the former president, proving no one is safe from Simpsons satire.
