The Simpsons: 14 Most Controversial Episodes Of All Time

8. A Streetcar Named Marge

Obviously not limited to incurring wrath from the other side of the world, in A Streetcar Named Desire the show stuck to offending people on their own home turf with a little musical ditty about The Big Easy. Marge gets a part in a musical version of Tennessee Williams€™ play A Streetcar Named Desire featuring a certain number that calls New Orleans €˜a home of pirates, drunks and whores€™, naturally prompting many N'awlins natives to express their disapproval. If The Simpsons€™ reaction to the city€™s criticism is anything to go by, it€™s worse pi**ing off New Orleans than Fox News: then Fox president Jamie Kellner was forced to issue an apology statement and the following week€™s episode featured a hastily produced scene with Bart scribing the words €˜I will not defame New Orleans€™ in the show€™s opening blackboard gag.
