When Homer3 was aired it was unquestionably the most ambitious episode The Simpsons had ever attempted. Not only did the creators experiment with sending Homer into a 3D world, they also managed to transport him into the real world if only for a few seconds.
This segment is a wonderful triumph of both animation and humour, with enough jokes to fill a full episode.
It also demonstrates that the best jokes are sometimes the most simple, and the fact that Homer would rather take his chances in the mystery wall than even speak to Patty and Selma not only makes the audience laugh every time, but also sums up the character perfectly in one scene.
