The Simpsons: 20 Best Movie Parodies

It's perhaps not as subtle as other Simpsons spoofs on our list but the sheer volume of horror movie references in this three minute opening sequence is an achievement worth applauding.

Overseen by monster movie maestro Guillermo Del Toro, the extra-long couch gag features nods to many of the director's films (and even the ones he almost made but didn't, such as an adaptation of HP Lovecraft's At The Mountains Of Madness) and all his favourite horrors in general.  

While the funniest is probably Burns as Pan Labyrinth's Pale Man eating Smithers the fairy, our favourite obscure reference goes to the laughing Illustrated Man being drawn on by Ray Bradbury. Oh, and it's always nice to see Futurama's Hypnotoad (All hail the Hypnotoad!).
