The Simpsons: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
16. Season 23
As previously noted, the general consensus with both critics and audiences is that The Simpsons isn't quite what it used to be, but to say that would be to completely discredit such under-appreciated gems as this, the show's 23rd installment.
Season 23 not only features the show's 500th episode (an insane milestone, when you think about it), but it also includes a series of top-notch stories. Bart befriending Superintendent Chalmers and getting interested in history is a particular standout, as is "Politically Inept, with Homer Simpson," an episode that deserves high marks for its political satire and social consciousness.
No, it doesn't reach the heights of the show's best outings, but over twenty years in, The Simpsons proves here that it still has a lot going for it.
