The Simpsons: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
27. Season 31
Season 31 will probably be best remembered for the controversy surrounding Hank Azaria's voicing of Apu, which caused the actor to step down from the role. Outside of the controversy, the season can best be described as a fun if lacklustre affair, with the show bringing the laughs by making fun of Stranger Things and modern phone addiction, but failing to really dig into anything new.
The crowning achievement of the season is "Todd, Todd, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?", a surprisingly sweet and challenging offering in which Ned tries to get Todd to remember his late mother's face. It harkens back to the early days of The Simpsons, when there was a balance of hilarity and heart.
Unfortunately, season 31 never lives up to its strongest moments, despite showing off just how good the show can still be.
