The Simpsons: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

With its season 29 renewal, The Simpsons officially became the longest-running sitcom and animated series in television history. The writers celebrated this milestone with some heartfelt and hilarious offerings, including a Homer-Grampa centric adventure where the two try to reconcile their relationship, and an episode in which Bart tries to help ghosts gain closure in the afterlife.

Beside some slices of brilliance, though, season 29 is letdown by predictability. For what feels like the tenth season in a row, Marge gets another random job when she tries to become mayor, and Homer's iconic bowling team the Pin Pals make a weak, boring return.

These hiccups and more trip the season up in its better moments, leaving the finished product uneven, torn between excellence and sloppiness.
