There's always an issue with parodies in The Simpsons that they will either come too late because of the length of time it takes to make a series, or they'll age so horrifically that the episode will become redundant almost immediately. That's why some of the best Treehouse Of Horror episodes have been the ones that looked at classic movies or fears.

AI: Artificial Intelligence was the subject of the opening segment on the sixteenth in the series, and was neither iconic enough nor scary enough to elicit much more than confusion. Plus the parody came about four years too late.

Survival Of The Fattest is far better, as Homer and his co-workers are hunted Running Man style by Mr Burns, it's just a shame that it's too condensed to really have enough effect. It arguably would have been better without the kills in a non-fatal episode looking at Burns losing his mind.

The final segment is the best of the bunch, as Springfield's residents are transformed into their Halloween costumes: remarkably this wasn't just an excuse to use that horrific/brilliant pun title.
