The arch nemesis of Bart Simpson, there’s no denying that Sideshow Bob is one of the very best guest characters that ever appeared on The Simpsons. It was so much fun to see this evil genius plot his various villainous schemes on Springfield and how they would always inevitably be foiled.
Described by Entertainment Weekly as being "Frasier pickled in arsenic", Sideshow Bob is basically an evil Frasier Crane and the producers would forever attempt to drive that part home with devilish storylines and his superior personality.
The writers were encouraged to draw parallels with the quirky traits of Crane, the most famous character of Kelsey Grammer and indeed it was no accident that when we met Sideshow Bob’s brother and father they would be voiced by David Hyde Pierce and John Mahoney respectively, the very actors who portrayed the same roles in Frasier Crane’s family in the Cheers spin-off sitcom.
