The US Office: 10 Worst Episodes

3. Gettysburg - Season 8 Episode 8

The Office Worst Episode
NBC

After Steve Carrell left The Office to pursue his dream of becoming the world's greatest supervillain and raise an army of minions, the show took a noticeable dip as the writers desperately tried to raise the profile of some of the other characters to take his place. This is perfectly encapsulated by the episode titled Gettysburg, where Andy tries to raise moral of the office by taking some of them on a field trip to a historic civil war battle ground. The others, meanwhile are tasked by CEO Robert California to stay behind and come up with Sabre's next big idea.

What sucked: As mentioned numerous times already, Andy isn't Michael. When he left the show, the writers disappointingly tried to up the goofy factor of Ed Helms' character to make him more Scott-like. Also, some of the greatest moments from The Office have come from the whole cast being together and the fact that the cast were split for this episode, meant the jokes were spread out thinly and inconsistently.

What doesn't suck: Robert California thinking Kevin was a genius and Dwight realising Shrute Farms was not a battle ground during the war but rather a safe haven for artists and homosexuals.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
