4. Hershel

Oh, Hershel. One of the most needless and saddest deaths in The Walking Dead comes when Hershel is executed by The Governor outside the prison fence, with his remaining family and survivor friends watching on helplessly. The Governor takes a couple of chunks out of his neck, but fails to deliver a clinical blow before a firefight erupts. A clean head slice would've actually been one of the quickest, most pain-free methods of death in the show, but Hershel remarkably manages to scuttle away, bleeding out, before The Governor catches up to him and barbarically finishes the job. Hershel was a fine man, and a fine character who'd be a great in Alexandria, though his time was cut short. Literally.
