5. Sophia
Sophias death came as a shock for fans during Season Two. After spending the entire first half of the season looking for the girl, who got lost out of fear when an enormous horde of walkers threatened the groups safety, a lot of viewers expected the time spent would not be wasted, and she would return somehow, perhaps being saved by a new character. Instead, as Shane and company cleared out Hershels walker-infested barn, the groups hope of finding the girl was quickly taken from them, as Sophias reanimated corpse slowly made her way out of the barn, only to be put out of her misery by Rick himself. Its suggested by Hershel that Otis probably found her in the woods, and put her in the barn shortly before his own passing, but it is a wonder how long Sophia survived on her own before being bitten. With all of the evidence left in her wake, such as a camp, and the doll that Daryl finds (although as we saw in the very opening scene of the series, children do still tend to hold onto those sort of items after awakening), its possible that she held her own for a while. Its also probably worth noting that she probably still escaped the walker that got her, considering she would have been torn apart otherwise.
