The Walking Dead: 10 Greatest Antiheroes

5. Merle

Merle was an entertaining character to have around, though his death seems like a long time ago given the current stance of the show. He began as a loud-mouth racist with a lust for killing and conflict, though after leaving Woodbury, his path changes. He becomes less ruthless, and seeks forgiveness from the main group, and while some people are never truly at ease with Merle, he is a changed person from the one in the first season. His death is typically guns-blazing and heroic, offering up his life on a one man mission to kill The Governor and his men. He eliminates the latter half of those targets, but The Governor himself finishes off Merle, before Daryl comes and ends his brother's reanimated corpse.
