The Walking Dead: 10 Horrifying Comic Book Moments Never In The TV Show
5. The Governor's Full Depravity
Brian Blake, aka The Governor, played in the show's third and fourth seasons by David Morrissey, is one of The Walking Dead's most memorable, iconic, and depraved villains. He keeps his zombified daughter alive, torments and humiliates Maggie, and has Glenn bashed. He is also responsible for the death of Andrea, beheads the beloved Hershel Greene, and causes the fall of the Prison and the deaths of many of the survivors within. It may come as a surprise to some that the comic-book take on The Governor is even worse.
In the comics, The Governor also keeps Penny, his zombified daughter alive, but unlike the show, has a creepy, borderline paedophilic relationship with her. He also sexually assaults Michonne, cuts off Rick's hand, and eventually causes the fall of the Prison.
Expanded Universe novels and comics specials expanded upon The Governor's backstory, revealing that he had stolen his older brother's identity, and that Penny was not actually his daughter, but his niece.Clearly, The Governor's darkest tendencies were toned down for the screen.
