The Walking Dead: 10 Mistakes That Must Be Learnt From In Season 6
2. Too Many Story-lines
The Walking Dead has suffered in the past from cramming too many story-lines into one season. The thing is, sometimes this seems less because the writers have so much to say, and more because they can't think of one major plot that will get us to the final episode. Season 4 was a perfect example of this. We had the mysterious virus which decimated most of the secondary characters, a couple of episodes catching up with The Governor, followed by a final showdown, and then a prolonged wander towards Terminus. Even Season 5 was in danger of doing this, with The Hunter's quickly being dispatched and a new thread starting soon after. Thankfully it didn't turn out that way, but The Walking Dead always seems to be in an awkward place artistically - stuck between high end dramas like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, which require constant attention on the audiences part, and syndicated shows which you can drop and pick up when you feel like it. At some point the show has to make a choice. Hopefully it'll be the former.
