The Walking Dead: 10 Moments That Most Pissed Off Fans

4. The Governor Almost Raping Maggie

As gruesome as The Walking Dead has gotten over the years, the show gets away with most of its hard-to-watch moments as they're directly related to the its supernatural/fantasy premise. One moment that pissed fans off for a very different reason, however, was the highly-threatening confrontation in the third season between the Governor and Maggie.

Maggie - who had come in to reason with the Woodbury leader - seemed like she might be the one to successfully come up with a peaceful solution to the warring factions' problems - that is, until he told her to strip (threatening Maggie's husband Glenn if she didn't), took off his gunbelt and forced her over a table in front of him. He then backed off when she bravely masked her fear.

While it did achieve the episode's purpose of highlighting how truly despicable The Governor was, some fans understandably took issue with the way it was handled. Obviously all forms of sexual assault are abhorrent, but some suggested that the way the Governor forced Maggie to strip almost 'eroticised' what was supposed to be an inherently threatening moment.

Needless to say this was a controversial scene that could have been handled better.
