The Walking Dead: 10 Moments That Most Pissed Off Fans

2. The Resolution Of That Cliffhanger

In another infuriating turn of events, The Walking Dead followed up that controversial cliffhanger with a resolution that saw Negan kill the one character everyone predicted he was polishing up Lucille for all along (Abraham). But the writers clearly foresaw the backlash for that obvious decision coming, so they threw a swerve and had Negan kill another character: Glenn.

Not only did the shock death make for one of the most visually disturbing scenes in the show's history, it was completely undercut by one of their previous infuriating storylines.

You remember dumpstergate, right? You know, how Glenn was visually 'killed' on-screen only for the writers to keep us in suspense for weeks before finally revealing that he was alive all along? Yeah, well, once you spend half a season expecting a character to either be dead or for his fakeout death to decimate any stakes the show once had, it kind of takes the sheen off that supposedly cutting-edge death.

Glenn's death was certainly impactful from a visual standpoint, but it just felt like another half-baked creative choice that didn't gel with the narrative up until that point and pissed viewers off because the writers had spent a solid (and recent) portion of the previous toying with them only to go ahead and kill Glenn off in the not-so-distant future. It reeked of under-planning and felt like it was done for nothing more than shock value.
