5. Rick Reinstates The Death Penalty
A note for all present and future convicts: if a corpse resurrecting apocalypse befalls the planet while you’re incarcerated and you spend nearly the entire first year of said apocalypse hunkered down in the prison cafeteria, don’t assume the first person to fight through the throngs of undead to get into prison is someone who can be taunted.
An inmate by the name of Tomas learns that lesson the hard way when Rick and his group take refuge at the prison. Stumbling upon the cafeteria-contained convicts, Rick discovers quickly that they won't all be living in harmony together. The two alpha males stand face to face before Rick brings his machete down deep into Tomas’ skull.
Rick knows there are no second chances in the new world, and in this moment he shows that he has no issue with passing judgment on those who cross his path.
