The Walking Dead: 10 Most Underrated Episodes

7. Sick (Season 3, Episode 2)

The Walking Dead
AMC

The Survivors taking the prison in season three's first episode makes for an epic and violent spectacle, in which Hershel is bitten and the claustrophobic horror makes for tense viewing.

Sick takes a brief step back from the violence to introduce audiences to the real-life residents of the prison - criminals who don't know the world has ended. Striking up a deal with Rick, Daryl and T-Dog (IronE Singleton), the prisoners agree to clear a nearby block and stay clear of the others.

It makes from some darkly humorous moments, as the prisoners struggle to grasp the reality they've been faced with, but also offers audiences the chance to see Rick turn on his usual instincts and kill the psychopathic Tomas (Nick Gomez) in order to secure the safety of his people and his family.

It's an important episode in the road to the ruthless survivor Rick Grimes would very shortly become, and is truly pulse-pounding to watch.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
