The Walking Dead: 10 Outrageous Comic Moments That Won't Be Used

9. Gay Jesus

Paul Monroe is a character who would definitely work on TV, and may well be arriving at some point. If Negan, the big bad from the comics, is set to turn up, then there’s a good chance Monroe will be along around the same time.

He's a key part of the Hilltop community (another large group of survivors), a skilled tactician and fighter and viewed as a saviour by many of his peers.

Because of this, as well as his long hair and beard, he earns the nickname Jesus and, later in the series, he is revealed to be gay. That doesn’t seem particularly outrageous, and nor should it, but the fact that they included a gay character called Jesus did garner complaints from the more religiously-inclined fans.

When there was a scene of two men kissing during season 5, there was a minority of fans up in arms about it, because apparently it’s no problem watching a show with zombies and murder after violent murder, but two guys sharing a loving moment is too far. OK…

Monroe may be introduced, and hopefully the show will not be perturbed at the thought of introducing another homosexual character, but there may be reservations about calling him Jesus.
