The Walking Dead: 10 Reasons Fans Are Abandoning The Show

Robert Kirkman and Scott Gimple appear to get some kind of rush out of trolling the fanbase. Maybe it’s compliance due to the show growing more successful each season, and feeling fans will follow them no matter what, but in the last two seasons, they’ve gone out of their way to knowingly piss the audience off.

The best example is the dumpster incident from season six, where it seemed like Glenn was eaten by walkers. The following episodes removed the actor's name from the credits and they played out the mystery before revealing it was a fake-out, and the character was fine. Kirkman admitted this was a stunt to rile the fans, who vocally weren’t happy at being played.

Then there was the season six cliffhanger, which cynically teased out the identity of Negan’s victim for a further half year. These kinds of stunts have rubbed fans the wrong way, and many have decided the lack of respect has gone too far.
