The Walking Dead: 10 Reasons Fans Are Abandoning The Show

Another factor in the declining viewership is probably down to good old fashioned zombie fatigue. Around the time of 28 Days Later and Dawn Of The Dead the zombie fad had been dead for years, only to gloriously spring back to life with numerous movies, TV shows and video games.

The last decade has given us World War Z, Left 4 Dead, Z Nation, Land Of The Dead, The Zombie Survival Guide, Call Of Duty’s Nazi Zombie mode, Maggie, the Resident Evil movie and much, much more. The genre has covered just about every possible angle at this stage, and audiences are understandably burnt out on it.

Since The Walking Dead is a poster boy for the whole fad, it makes sense that viewership is slipping there too, but even then that wouldn't explain the steepness of the drop.
