Fear The Walking Dead: 10 Reasons It'll Be Even Better Than The Original

9. The World Before The Disaster

Fear The Walking Dead
AMC

One of the biggest flaws in The Walking Dead is that there isn't enough focus on the world before the walkers arrived. Of course, that looks like a creative decision with the emphasis on the series essentially being "they're in this situation, forget about the past, this is happening NOW. Deal with it."

That is commendable, but at the same time, it would be fantastic to see the family dynamics between Rick, Lori and Carl, as well as Daryl's rough life, the Greene family going about their business, and the jobs of everyone before civilisation ended. The characters would instantly be more relatable, and their development would immediately flesh out their backstories, adding a layer of realism.

Fear offers this chance. If the series is continued longer than its initial two-season run, it will be fascinating to look back to the beginning and compare when they started out in Season 1 to where they've got to by, for example, Season 4.
