Fear The Walking Dead: 10 Reasons It'll Be Even Better Than The Original
A whole new pile of walker-fodder is about to land.
Summer is in full flow, but while everyone else is outside basking in the sun, AMC will be bringing you another reason to bolt up the doors, turn out the lights, and flick your TV on.
Following the incredible global success of The Walking Dead, the spinoff show, Fear The Walking Dead, will dominate August to fill the walker-free void between Season 5 and 6 of the parent show.
From the title it is immediately clear that while the show will tread a different path to TWD, Fear is very much proud of its roots and won't shy away from the similarities. However, the spinoff nature of the show, on the West Coast as opposed to Georgia in the South East, gives the writers some huge new possibilities to compliment TWD, without having to rely on characters crossing over.
Many will see this plan as a way to squeeze more money out of the Walking Dead cash cow, but fans of the show will still love this as another way to explore the world created by Robert Kirkman and co. Only a small portion of the country's despair has been documented; it's time to see it all.
And, with that in mind, here are 10 reasons why Fear could be even better than The Walking Dead itself.
10. Radically Different Group Reactions
The Walking Dead began with Rick waking up into the apocalyptic world, and it was immense. The horror of realising everything and everyone he ever knew was dead or gone was a staggering process that the creators nailed, but when he finally started to meet others, they were already adapted to the surroundings. They had a head start.
Fear will give the world a level playing field, with every person coming to terms at the same time. It's a test to see who can get to grips with the new world quickly before it swallows them up.
Of course, this is going to be a whole different initial group, and to see what their first moves are will be exciting to watch. The reality and magnitude of the situation may not hit some members immediately, while others will take to the new world like ducks to water. Watching how groups form will be entertaining and intriguing to watch.
