The Walking Dead: 10 Times Rick Was Really The Villain

2. Indifference (Season 4) – Exiling Carol

The Walking Dead Rick
AMC

Banishing Carol from the prison group might not seem as villainous as some of the other stuff and things Rick has done like killing a crap-tonne of people but it’s important to remember who Carol was to Rick.

She wasn’t an enemy trying to kill him. She had been part of his group from the very beginning. She was there to console him after Lori died in childbirth and help raise his baby when he was in his Crazy Rick phase. They’d defended themselves, their people and their hideouts against the dead and the living side by side.

What’s more, back then she wasn’t the Carol Peletier we know today. She was a far more capable person than the downtrodden mouse she was at the start of the apocalypse but she was by no means the fully fledged badass she is today. Her killing the virus-ridden Karen and David was definitely questionable but exiling Carol like that back then could’ve well been her own death sentence.

Rick did a pretty shady thing to his friend and ally that day and even had the audacity to imply she couldn’t be trusted which was rich considering some of the people he’d killed in the name of keeping the group safe.

So while he at least let his friend live this time (unlike Shane), casting Carol out was definitely one of his most villainous moments.
