2. Massacring Gareth And The Termites

There's no denying that the Termites were bad people. After all, they captured Rick's group with the intent of eating them, and even managed to kill Bob (while devouring his "tainted meat").

That said, the way they were dispatched, especially leader Gareth, was the first sign that Rick might be, as the show liked to put it, too far gone. The survivors get the drop on their enemies, and after watching them plead begin to massacre them, with Rick slicing up Gareth with his machete because he didn't want to "waste the bullets".

Granted it's not just him revelling in the brutality, as Abraham and Sasha violently butcher the other Termites, but it's Rick leading in the charge and calling the shots. It's one of the moments where the hero appears not too dissimilar to some of the villains he'd previously faced, and the shocked faces from Maggie, Glenn, Tyrese and Gabriel are a testament to that.
