The Walking Dead: 10 Worst Things Rick Grimes Has Ever Done

6. Every Battle Plan In All Out War

For the most part, the All Out War storyline amounted to little more than two sides shooting at each other, killing redshirts and enduring no real victories or losses. That was partly down to the writing, and partly down to Rick's battle plans being utter catastrophes.

Take his first siege on the Savior's compound, for instance. He managed to park his army right outside the front door of the enemy's HQ, with a bunch of snipers in position to take out the patrols and have clear shots of anyone in the area.

Consequently, when he coaxes Negan and his men out, you're practically screaming at the screen for Rick to call in the shot, or start shooting, or anything other than waste this surprise attack. Instead, he offers the Saviors a chance to surrender to avoid a war.

Anyone with two brain cells knew that wasn't going to happen - especially after a full season which set up how powerful Negan and his group were - but in his attempt to avoid a war, Rick instead caused a war and lost the element of surprise.

Nice going, doofus.
