The Walking Dead: 10 Worst Things Rick Grimes Has Ever Done

7. Completely Misinterpreting Carl's Dying Wishes

Carl's death should have been one of the biggest moments on The Walking Dead, and it was, for all the wrong reasons. After watching his son die while he was out fighting, fans expected Rick to finally give up his murderous crusade. After all, Carl's final days were spent trying to broker peace, and he even died while helping a stranger get to safety. He went down as an example of the person Rick should be.

Instead of taking this on board, Rick spent the next couple of episodes doubling down on his murderous rampage. His brutality and dictatorial brand of leadership skyrocketed, as he became reckless hunting down Negan.

Now, it's fair that Rick would obviously be grieving following the death of his son, but the problem was that he was forced to re-live a lesson he'd already learned before. Instead of listening to his son's dying wishes, Rick ignored them and became the man Carl didn't want him to be.

He would eventually come around, but only because he went so far off the deep end and disappointed everyone he loved first.
