The Walking Dead: 11 Major Moments From The Comics We Still Need To See

9. The Whisperers' Introduction

Although Negan is still alive and kicking in the comics after the events of All Out War, The Whisperers have taken his place as the major antagonists of the book for now.

Teased for multiple issues as characters began spreading rumours that the dead were beginning to talk, it was eventually revealed that The Whisperers were a community of barbaric survivors who wore the skin of the undead to move from place to place and keep out of danger.

Closer to the walkers than the actual living, shambling within the ranks of zombie hordes for years certainly had its effect on the group, and they quickly prove themselves to be a dangerous threat to Rick's group.

With no indication on how long All Out War is going to last for in the TV show though, the introduction of The Whisperers could be a ways off yet.

However if the writers have proven anything it's that they love to tease major villains far in advance, with the cannibals at Terminus, the Wolves, and Negan all being foreshadowed long before they ever showed up on screen. If characters start hearing the dead talk next season then, it's probably an indication that The Whisperers aren't too far off.
