3. Rick's Coma

Let's take the whole show back to the very beginning before we know anything about the other characters. It's just Rick, and he's fresh from an impossible coma. How did he even survive? The world has gone to ruin, the hospital has been utterly ravished and the power is sketchy. He was still rigged up to machines, but with nobody there to control the conditions, so how is it even possible that he survived? He went 60 days without food or water, yet he's still remarkably spritely for a man who should be dead. Another major point is that once he reconnects with other humans, he doesn't really ask questions. He woke up in a destroyed world and just got on with life.
