Beth was one of the characters to really show some growth over the course of her time on the show, starting off as a timid 16-year-old girl and growing into quite a strong, confident young woman.

After the death of her mother she tries to kill herself, but when the suicide attempt fails she becomes a stronger person, and a beacon of hope for the group, providing moments of lightness with her singing.

She forms a great bond with Daryl and learns to become more of a survivor, while still managing to be one of the characters who can convey anything approaching happiness. Then, naturally, she’s taken away and held captive at the hospital in Season 5 before being shot in the head during the mid-season finale. It was a tragic end for a character who could’ve offered a lot more, but at least it made Maggie remember she actually had a sister…
