The latest episode of the show, the Season 5 finale, was sensational in pretty much every way. While many speculated that we were about to witness huge characters deaths, all-out civil war in Alexandria, and copious amounts of blood, the show did a superb job of shocking us all with an episode that left us feeling satisfied rather than horrified. Reg's death was sad, but not earth-shattering, while Pete's death was on the cards for a while, but other than those moments, the finale tied polished off some storylines, hinted at Season 6, and handled the entire situation with immense maturity. It would've been so easy for the writers to have ended Sasha and Father Gabriel, along with countless other fringe characters, but instead they showed restraint and balance in great amounts, leading to an almost triumphant sense of unity within the walls as Deanna finally saw life through Rick's perspective. It was the best season finale in the show's history, one that has fans crying out for the next season to start.
