The Walking Dead: 6 Things "Try" Got Right (And 4 It Didn't)
3. The Terrible Secret Of Alexandria
At times the Alexandria Safe Zone has seemed rather too familiar. It's like the other side of the coin to Woodbury: Deanna is a far more benevolent leader than The Governor (or so it has seemed), and whilst that fortified town had a very militaristic, survivalist feel with some Social Darwinism thrown in for good measure, Alexandria plays at being far more civilised and sheltered. Turns out the two have more in common that initially thought, if you just look below the surface. Deanna and her town are nowhere near as actively violent and abhorrent as The Governor's cronies, but there's a more subtle, insidious mindset that started to become clear in Try. Again, it's that complex morality the show has always been toying with coming into play: was Nicholas so wrong to just try and save himself, if it meant the town would lose one less resident/protector? Is it worth turning a blind eye to Pete beating his wife when he's a surgeon who saves life? It made the whole deal a lot darker, and a lot more intriguing.
