The Walking Dead: 6 Things "Try" Got Right (And 4 It Didn't)

The Bad...

4. Carl Grimes In Love

Did the makers of The Walking Dead learn nothing from the last time they gave Carl Grimes a story line of his own? He couldn't even handle sitting on a roof eating pudding! It was real lousy! Granted, Chandler Riggs has gotten a lot better as an actor since the first season, but the writers haven't really grown alongside him. They've no idea what to do with a kid in the zombie apocalypse. So what they've done is read a John Green book and figured, hey, about time for a coming-of-age romance between Carl and the one girl in Alexandria! She likes to sneak out and kill zombies and also make out in the trunks of trees whilst a shambling corpse walks towards her. Fun! Much like the Father Gabriel thing that has swiftly been dropped, it's a sub-plot that could be interesting. How exactly do these courtship ritual and teen hormones work in a world where the rules of high school fell alongside...everything else, and yet cracking onto each other still seems like the natural order of things? But no, instead Carl gets the most hackneyed, cliché and just plain lazy romance thing that's bound to end in tragedy. So what's the point in even caring.
