The Walking Dead: 7 Things "Them" Got Right (And 3 It Didn't)

2. The Drought

Speaking of things getting worse, having the group's main worry throughout this episode being dying of thirst was a novel idea. There still hasn't been a €œbig bad€ revealed for the fifth season; having lone since left The Governor behind, The Travelling Rick Grimes Band have instead been faced with a series of smaller tests. The Terminus cannibals, the hospital, that sort of thing. Which, honestly, is a good thing. Coming up with a new, single location for most of the season with the characters having to deal with a single problem would've quickly become trite, boring, unoriginal. Shaking things up a bit, and having the problems be things that nobody can be blamed for and can't be solved with beheadings is interesting. It was perhaps less interesting to see the characters milling about looking for water for the first half hour, but it's cool that The Walking Dead is totally committed to its premise at times like this. Not only are there the general rigours of surviving amongst hordes of zombies, but there's also the issue of getting by, doing basic survival in a world that's totally collapsed in on itself.
