The Walking Dead Season 5: 7 Things To Expect

6. The Return Of Morgan Jones

Lennie James portrayed Morgan Jones in the Walking Dead pilot to much fanfare. His presence was a strong one, as he was the key to introducing former sherrif's deputy Rick Grimes to the zombie apocalypse that laid before him. He's a dynamite actor, and infuses an urgent sense of reality into the character of Morgan. Along with his son Duane, Morgan acted as the training wheels for the Rick Grimes we know today. That is, perhaps, the secret to Morgan. Because of his sparse appearance in the series, he's become almost mythic. Fans are constantly clamoring for his return. Which made fans gleeful after it was somewhat loosely confirmed that Morgan would return in the season finale. Executive producer Scott M. Gimple eventually shot this rumor down, much to the dismay of fans everywhere. It was a harsh reality that we all had to face. But, in reality, there was so much going on in the finale, it's difficult to reconcile where he may have even fit. But with season five ramping up production, rumours of Morgan's return seem to be stirring up again. At this stage, it makes the most sense to bring Lennie James back for another go around. Perhaps even multiple turns, seeing as how his series Low Winter Sun has been cancelled. He's definitely got some free time available. Morgan often serves as a nice contrast to Rick, a scarred visage to what he may have become in another life. And with Rick's recent awakening in the season finale, this may be a most pertinent time for the two of them to reunite.
