4. Maggie Greene

Maggie has had a bit of a mixed run on the show: her relationship with Glenn has definitely been one of the strong points in the past few years, and she's generally been a solid character herself, but then there was that whole period where she basically forgot she had a younger sister. Again, though, there are much bigger things to come from Maggie in the future. Based on her character's arc in the comics, she should be poised to take on a real leadership role, and having her grow into that position and become one of the major players would be interesting to see: Lauren Cohen has done good work on the show, but that would really test her, and only then could you really make a case for whether she's expendable or not. Then there's the fact that Glenn is actually alive, and the bombshell of her being pregnant. There's a whole lot more of that to explore, whether she actually gets to have the baby or not, and that can't be wrapped up in what's left of Season 6.
