5. Shiva
It is very clear by now that the plot of the TV series is not contained to the events of Robert Kirkman’s award-winning graphic novels. The fates of some characters have been switched or changed in the name of what Walking Dead showrunners perceive to be good television.
However, with Kirkman on board as an executive producer and the knowledgeable and passionate fanbase of his written work a major demographic of the show, there is a responsibility to stick to the narrative of the comic books at important points along the way.
The war with Negan is a crucial element of this story on paper and the TV show must stay true to it, in part at least. In the graphic novels, Aaron’s boyfriend Eric, Hilltop guard Kal, who we have seen little of to this point, and Ezekiel’s tiger Shiva all die in the fight against Negan.
The biggest loss of these three would be Shiva, whose turn in the season seven finale was straight up awesome. The season eight trailer appears to show Shiva surrounded by a group of walkers, and she will probably sacrifice her own life to save that of her master.
