Some fans genuinely believe that aliens came to Earth for its resources and set about trying to exterminate the world. But why do they need to get their hands dirty? They could have released a deadly pathogen, a plague that could wipe out mankind, before colonising the planet. It would save a lot of effort from invading if the humans have all killed each other first. The logic is there, but the likelihood of seeing aliens in The Walking Dead world is far-fetched even by the show's standards.
